WordPress: Next Step - Site Administration

Build on your WordPress skills, with a focus on site administration.

Description

This course is aimed at people who are responsible for, or contribute to, the administration of a WordPress site.  The focus is on installing, supporting and securing a WordPress site.  You must have at least a working knowledge of WordPress and ideally an understanding of FTP and the basics of web hosting (creating accounts, creating databases, etc).

This course is designed to meet the needs of self-hosted sites (i.e. using the resources from wordpress.org).  If your site is hosted on wordpress.com, please contact the office to see if the course is relevant to your needs.

By the end of the workshop, you'll be able to:
• Download WordPress files, set up a new site, configure users and roles
• Understand the WordPress file structure and manage WordPress files on your site by using FTP or file management
• Apply the keys to WordPress security
• Protect your site; monitor and detect potential issues; recover
• Back up your site and transfer off-site
• Migrate your site to a different host
• Perform selected advanced administration techniques, including bulk management of content and managing issues with upgrades. 

Note:  Courses need a minimum number to go ahead so if we don't have enough enrolments a few days before the start date, we have to cancel.
