Middle Eastern “Raqs Sharq” (belly) dance empowers your body, mind and soul, improves your flexibility and tones your core muscles while inspiring you to feel more feminine, healthy and creative.
Popular world-wide, this fun beginners’ Middle Eastern dance course will introduce you to the skills and knowledge of belly dancing techniques.
Each session includes warm-ups, stretches and basic movements, which involves working with isolations, simple layering, travelling steps and posture. The focus is on building a strong foundation to the dance while having a fun and joyful experience.
Wear comfortable clothing or gym clothes and bring a bottle of water. Check out Miriam's classes here.
By the end of the course, you’ll be able to:
- Perform basic belly dance steps with confidence, including
• Hip drop, hip circle and simple walk
• Camel undulation • 8 figure steps
• Hip and shoulder shimmies and variations
• Twist steps
• Travelling steps
- Perform two basic choreographed dances
- Perform basic movements with the veil
- Feel more feminine and creative
