Google SketchUp is a free programme that allows you to draw 3D objects on a computer at 1:1 scale. Great for designers, hobbyists or anyone interested in designing their own home, furniture or models or if you just want to have fun being creative on a computer.
This course will provide you with the basic skills for drawing in SketchUp. The programme is freely downloadable on the internet and can produce very detailed 3D models of any virtually any object at any size. We’ll include learning the basic drawing skills, shortcuts and techniques to speed up and simplify the drawing process and techniques to manage the produced model.
SketchUp is supported by SketchUp Warehouse which allows free downloadable models of virtually anything, plants to planes – directly into your model or just for scrolling around. It is also supported by a multitude of plug-ins that extend the tool sets provided.
By the end of the course, you’ll be able to:
• Draw basic objects in SketchUp
• Know the basic tool sets that SketchUp uses and how to deploy them
• Use some of the basic shortcuts and techniques to achieve desired modelling outcomes
• Know how to manage the model to make it easier to use and easier to add more layers of detail into it
