Thai, Vietnamese, Chinese, Indonesian – learn to make delicious vegetarian versions of classic dishes from these countries. Ideal for both vegetarians and non-vegetarians as all dishes can easily be adapted for meat eaters. All ingredients provided.
For people who want to know how to create classic Asian-style vegetarian dishes. Each dish will be demonstrated by the chef-tutor and then working in pairs you’ll make each dish.
You’ll learn about, and practice using, the classic five flavours of Thai cuisine. We’ll discuss the influence of French cuisine on Vietnamese cuisine and will make a contemporary version of the classic bun mi sandwich. You’ll be shown how to use commercial products such as curry paste, vegetarian stock and stir fry sauce to make balanced and full-flavoured meals.
Please note this course is 100% vegetarian and while there will be some explanation about how these dishes can be easily adapted for meat eaters, there will be no meat products used.
By the end of the course, you’ll be able to:
• Follow multi-step recipes
• Create a variety of Asian style dishes
• Describe more about the different Asian cuisines and their individual characteristics
• Identify local retail outlets where you can buy specialty ingredients
All ingredients provided (including tea towels, aprons and dish cloths), however you will need containers to take home any leftovers.
