Learn how to process and preserve tomatoes into sauce, chutney and relish. Enjoy the difference that homemade makes to these classic condiments. You’ll be able to take home small batches of each! All ingredients provided.

Join our qualified chef and be shown how to process and preserve one of Autumn’s finest fruits – the tomato!

  

In this course you'll make tomato sauce, tomato relish, tomato chutney and spaghetti sauce - following simple but effective recipes. Working in pairs you'll make enough so that both of you will have a decent quantity of each item to take home. You'll learn how to sterilise jars and lids, process fruit correctly and some expert shortcuts to make it all easier.

Please note we'll be using recycled bottles and jars to keep costs down. All preserves made are incidentally vegan and can be made gluten free.

By the end of the workshop, you’ll be able to:
• Make preserved tomato products
• Prepare jars and their lids to be sterile and suitable for preserving
• Recognise the need to salt produce in advance of preserving for relish
• Follow recipes and recognise what alterations can be made easily
