Patternmaking Workshop - Skirts

Find out how to make a pattern block for skirts and take away a finished calico sample.

Description

An introduction to basic patternmaking techniques, making pattern blocks for a straight and A-line skirt.

By the end of the course, you'll be able to:
• Draft a basic straight and A-line skirt to fit you
• Describe the basic rules for drafting and taking personal measurements
• Cut out a basic block, facings and waist bands from calico
• Take part in a tutor demonstration of zip insertion and skirt completion

A list of materials required (approximate cost $40) will be sent out when course numbers are confirmed. 

Note:  Courses need a minimum number to go ahead so if we don't have enough enrolments a few days before the start date, we have to cancel. Prerequisites

Not for beginners. Basic dressmaking skills essential - you need to be familiar with sewing terms such as seam allowance, straight grain, darts, bias etc.
