A great new on-line course that gives you a better understanding of how to view and interpret the wonders of our night sky. Spread over seven weeks, the course covers: the basics of orientation; the nearest object: the Moon; the ecliptic and what lies on it; the celestial sphere; the Earth's journey around the sun; the constellations; stargazing. With the guidance of the tutor and experienced astronomer, Haritina Mogosanu, you will start by developing an Observation Diary for yourself and then go on to complete directed activities each week that are shared with Haritina and other course members. This is a convenient, informative and collaborative way to learn. You will be asked to undertake regular stargazing during the course and will be asked to share your viewing results and research in a shared forum on-line discussion. About one to one and a half hours per week will be needed for the course activities. You will need a computer, a compass, a torch and either a digital camera or a sketch pad.
