Description
Jewellery Making - Lost Wax Cast Rings
The lost wax process offers a wide range of creative outcomes such as 3D forms and textures, which are not achievable with fabrication soldering techniques.
You'll get a hands-on opportunity to develop new techniques creating rings with a sculptural and organic flair.
All materials are supplied and included, so you won't end up with surprise "extra" costs.
Included in your course:
- Explore using a range of jewellery wax types to create 2 practice rings and 1 X main project ring
- Access to industry-standard casting services where we will send your wax models to be transformed into brass, bronze and sterling silver rings
- 2 original practice rings cast in bronze or yellow brass
- 1 main project ring cast in sterling silver
In sessions 1, 2 and 3 you will be guided to sculpt a range of wax ring models, finishing one each session so it is ready for casting. Between classes your waxes will be transformed into rings for you. You can choose from bronze or yellow brass for your first two rings. These first 2 rings are a great opportunity to practice techniques and experiment with shapes, textures and designs before making your main project ring which will be cast in sterling silver!
In the second half of this course you will discover techniques to trim casting sprues, file, sand, refine and polish your casts into finished jewellery.
This course offers beginners a fun introduction to jewellery making, and for those with some jewellery experience, it offers a great way to advance and expand your making techniques to new levels!
All materials are included in course fee. Please bring pen and paper and your reading glasses (if you use these) and wear clothing and footwear suitable for a workshop environment.
By the end of the course, you’ll be able to:
- Evolve your jewellery making abilities with new and exciting lost wax methods
- Develop and create unique sculptural ring designs
- Carve hard jeweller’s wax ring master designs to fit a chosen finger size for casting
- Form soft jeweller’s wax master design to fit a chosen finger size for casting

- File, sand and polish metal casts into finished jewellery
