Jewellery Making - Silver Spell Rings

You’ll be able to make your own personal set of “spell-out” rings to show your unique personal brand to the world! Whether you want to spell a word, have an acronym or show some other aspect of your personality – these rings are a stylish way to do so. You’ll develop essential silversmithing skills such as soldering, shaping and polishing, and learn top tips for creating stunning jewellery on a budget.

Ideal for beginners, and a great gift idea for birthdays, graduations or anniversaries!

 There are many possibilities of what you can create, and here are just a few ideas: 
·         Begin your own family tradition of signet ring sets. 
·         Bring your best friends and make matching ‘B,Fs,4,ever’ ring sets.
·         Use our zodiac sign symbol punches to mark your Sun, Moon and Rising horoscope signs.
·         Use it for an acronym you choose – anything from YOLO to ADHD

Please bring pen and paper and your reading glasses (if you use these) and wear clothing and footwear suitable for a workshop environment.

By the end of the course, you’ll be able to:

  • Design and create a set of up to 4 basic silver rings using fine jewellery making techniques
  • Use a jeweller's saw to cut sheet silver into simple shapes.
  • Use hammers and steel punches to imprint letters, symbols and textures into sheet silver
  • Use jeweller's files and sandpapers to refine silver forms
  • Use jewellery pliers to bend silver into ring forms
  • Use a jeweller's soldering torch to solder join your rings together 
  • Use polishing tools to shine and finish your silver jewellery creations 

Please wear closed-in footwear suitable for a workshop environment. bring a work apron if you have one or wear clothes you don’t mind getting a little grubby.  Remember to bring your reading glasses if a have them.
