Jewellery Making - Vintage Silver Charms

Whether you want to commemorate a special occasion, make friendship bracelets with your BFF, or craft a unique gift, you’ll come out of this workshop with jewellery to be treasured for years to come. You’ll not only produce fantastic charms but gain essential silversmithing skills such as soldering, shaping and polishing, as well as learning top tips for how to create stunning and meaningful jewellery on a budget.

 This workshop is ideal for both beginners and those returning to further develop their skills. Charm bracelets are back in fashion and these make wonderful gifts for any occasion.

 Everything you need is provided to make up to 3 silver charms. You can bring your own bracelet to adorn with the charms you make, or if you choose you can purchase one of our top-quality NZ made silver bracelets directly from the tutor in class ($25 cash please if you wish to purchase a bracelet).

 By the end of the course you’ll be able to:

• Design and create a set of 3 silver charms using fine jewellery-making techniques
• Use a jeweller’s saw to cut sheet silver into simple shapes
• Use jeweller’s files and sandpapers to refine silver forms hammers and steel punches to imprint letters, symbols and textures into sheet silver
• Use jewellery pliers to bend silver hoops and/or a soldering torch to connect charms to your bracelet
• Use polishing tools to shine and finish your silver jewellery creations

Please wear closed-in footwear suitable for a workshop environment. bring a work apron if you have one or wear clothes you don’t mind getting a little grubby.  Remember to bring your reading glasses if a have them.

Note:  Courses need a minimum number to go ahead so if we don't have enough enrolments a few days before the start date, we have to cancel.
