Veronika Poddubska
Originally from Odessa, Ukraine, Veronika has also lived in Israel and Germany before settling in New Zealand. Odessa is a very multicultural city and food plays an important role there in connecting communities. Inspired by this aspect of Odessan life, Veronika loves exploring other cultures and their food expressions.
Multi-lingual, Veronika speaks English, Russian, German, Hebrew and Ukrainian. She enjoys communicating and sharing knowledge and this is reflected in her classroom. She prides herself on facilitating a friendly and respectful learning environment that is also open to humour.
During her time living in Israel, Veronika worked at Lehamim Bakery alongside the great baker Uri Scheft. This experience marked the start of her personal baking journey. Since then Veronika has actively pursued ongoing learning. She enjoys researching and trying new recipes across different forms of baking including yeast-based and non-yeast baked goods as well as experiments with sourdough.
Veronika’s baking courses were created with the intention for her to share her extensive knowledge to a new audience. Inspired by her travel experiences and exploration of different cultures, Veronika sees knowledge as power. In the context of baking, she hopes that the skills her students will learn will empower them to be more confident bakers and that it might inspire ongoing learning journeys.
In August 2022 Veronika completed in Le Cordon Bleu Boulangerie competition, and was delighted to take first place, and has since also completed her Advanced Diploma in Boulangerie.
