Dung Nguyen

Growing up in a Vietnamese family with a rich tradition of cooking and restaurant business, Yung Nguyen developed a deep appreciation for food and its unique ability to bring people together. Her passion lies not only in preparing delicious meals but also in sharing the beauty, health benefits, and values embedded in Vietnamese cuisine.

Since April 2024, she has been running Vietnamese cooking classes across Wellington (TeAro, Naenae, Moera, Newlands, Tawa, Pomare-Taita, Victoria University...), teaching nearly 100 lessons that showcase iconic and popular dishes across three-course dinners, breakfasts, lunches, street food, party menus, and family-style meals.

In her classes, Yung believes the best way to learn is by doing. She guides participants through each recipe with clear demonstrations, practical cooking tips, and stories about Vietnamese ingredients, traditions, and family food culture. Known for creating a relaxed, friendly atmosphere filled with laughter, she brings people together around the cooking bench and dining table, turning every class into a shared cultural and culinary experience.

Through these classes, she has introduced people from diverse backgrounds to the flavours, techniques, and cultural values behind Vietnamese food.
