ESOL for Job Seekers (ESOL level 3+)

Come and get help with the job search process! Write a CV and cover letter, prepare for interviews and learn the English required to do so! For people with Intermediate level English (level 3/4) [Course is free for NZ citizens and residents, fees apply for non-residents)

Description

This course covers the language and other skills required in the job search process

- Common vocabulary for job descriptions, CVs and cover letters
- Tailoring CV and cover letter for the desired job
- Preparing for the job interview process

Please bring a copy of your current CV and cover letter to the first session, pen and paper and laptop/device (if you have one).

By the end of the course, you’ll be able to:
- Write a CV
- Write a cover letter
- Tailor both to the job description
- Apply for jobs
- Prepare for job interviews
- Understand the job search process in NZ

Note:  Courses need a minimum number to go ahead so if we don't have enough enrolments a few days before the start date, we have to cancel. Prerequisites

For ESOL students at levels 3 and 4 (those who can usually understand native speakers and can make themselves understood in unfamiliar situations).

If you are enrolling with us for the first time, please contact the CEC office (04 385 8919) before enrolling so that we can check the level of your English to make sure that you are in the correct class.

NOTE: This course is subsidised with funding from the Tertiary Education Commission (TEC) and for statistical purposes, some additional information is required as part of the enrolment process. A condition of enrolment on this course is that you will attend all the sessions.  You must also provide evidence of NZ citizenship or residency, if applicable.
